It’s the digital age, right? And one of the main signs of a digital age is that everyone should have access to the ever-expansive internet. We used the process required for the TorGuard VPN service but it is generally the same for all VPN services. Make sure that you have an account with the specific VPN provider before using it with this method.

How to Use Google Chrome Proxy with TorGuard to Stay Private

  1. Launch the chrome browser and click on the three dots in the top right hand corner. Select the Settings option to open the settings panel. Find the More Tools option and click on it. Find the Extensions option under More Tools and launch it.
  2. If you have any extensions installed from the Chrome web store, you should be able to see them in this section. However, given that you are adding a new one, navigate to the bottom of the page with the chrome web store icon and link to Get more extensions. Click on this option to go to the chrome web store.
  3. Once in the chrome web store, go to the left of the panel and find the dialog box. Type in VPNetworks to find the TorGuard VPN extension specific to the chrome web browser. Upon locating it, click on the blue button titled Add to chrome.
  4. When you click on that option, you should be taken to the permissions section which has queries such as Add VPNetworksLLC Proxy? and what the extension can do. Simply click on the Add extension option. A download dialog will be opened at the base of the browser to show the download progress of the extension. Keep in mind that this extension is just for the chrome browser and not for other apps on your computer.
  5. When the download below is complete, you will see the tab with the Add to chrome change to Adding to chrome. When done, you will see it change to Added to chrome. You will also send the VPNetworks icon just after the omnibox (the address bar).
  6. Remember when we said you need to have an account with your specific VPN service provider? You will need them on their stage in the top right hand corner of your browser, click on the proxy icon you just installed to open a dialog box. Enter the proxy and login credentials then save them.
  7. Once you hit the Save button, you have the option of choosing a country of your liking, an SSL or HTTP connection type or a set of ports. Before you click on the connect option, you will see your current IP address. At the top of the dialog, you will see the login name of your connection.
  8. With these steps, you should be able to surf the internet with anonymity using the TorGuard VPN plugin. Better yet, you can be sure of visiting the sites to which you are normally blocked from viewing such as Facebook or other as per your situation. You will be able to visit them without any restrictions. To confirm your connection, make sure your connect button changes to disconnect.

It has been observed that some users report a failure of the TorGuard VPN extension failing to work. However, the issue has been identified to be related to the available of the Avast Mail Shield that prevents the extension from working. If you have the Avast Mail Shield installed, disable it first.

If you do not use TorGuard VPN for your online privacy, you can still use your VPN service of choice provided they have an extension for the chrome web browser. You can be happy to know that using the chrome browser extension does not require any more payment besides the plan you already paid for.
