VPN Features

TorGuard and ExpressVPN both have a lot of features, and both VPN providers have made some very great updates this year improving their service.

ExpressVPN Features

ExpressVPN’s leading set of features rests within their two apps, mobile, and PC. They don’t have too many extra services you can buy which can be a good thing if you’re short on money or you don’t need extra features.

ExpressVPN has a decent feature selection for their apps and services. With ExpressVPN app, you have a network kill switch, AES-256 encryption, DNS leak protection, protocol switching, and integrated speed testing. These are all critical, and it’s good to see that ExpressVPN stepped up their encryption rate this year.

TorGuard Features

TorGuard, on the opposite side of the spectrum, has a ton of extra features you can buy like proxy services, email services, dedicated IPs, and even VPN routers sold through their store. It’s good to see that they have a wide variety of “extras” that can be considered as features with users who want more usability. Dedicated IPs can be VERY useful, as we covered in this article here. I also like how they support a robust encrypted email platform.

While these extras are nice to see, the core meat of the VPN app that TorGuard supports is just as exciting. This year they’ve updated their visual interface, so it looks more modern, but they’ve also added some features that make using the app more user-friendly.

Now, you can favorite servers, filter servers, use dedicated IP address integration, and use Stealth VPN servers anywhere. TorGuard has been using 256-AES, and they have even more features within their client than ExpressVPN.

While a lot of TorGuard’s features might be geared towards power users, it’s great to see options like the ability to forget credentials, appearance customization, multiple app kill switching, script support, and their Stealth Proxy integration which helps hides the VPN handshake. Read why Stealth VPN is excellent here.

Winner in ExpressVPN vs. TorGuard VPN Features?

ExpressVPN has all the basics covered well and does have some things TorGuard doesn’t (like integrated speed testing and protocol switching), but TorGuard just has more features/integrations and settings to play with that are more useful, as well as extra services if you’re inclined to purchase them.

Both of the providers have great PC apps and mobile apps that work well without any bugs. TorGuard does have a slight edge with more extensions that you can use on Chrome that works as simple proxies.

Customer Support

ExpressVPN and  TorGuard both have excellent customer support. However, TorGuard supports live chat more often than ExpressVPN, even if the result is often the same with both VPN providers seeming very attentive to customer needs and solving problems. Refunds for both providers are very quick and painless.

Winner in ExpressVPN vs. TorGuard VPN Customer Support?

TorGuard wins here since their live chat is open more often but both providers have some of the best support in the VPN marketplace.

Overall Winner : TorGuard VPN

Both TorGuard and ExpressVPN have value as some of the best VPN providers around. Both VPN providers are suitable for long term or short term use for torrenting, streaming, browsing, and even gaming.

However, TorGuard’s cheaper entry price per month, 6-month plan, and yearly plan are much more affordable than ExpressVPN. More active live chat, as well as more power features within the client make the experience ideal for power users or those who need the best security for censored countries.
