How to Use TorGuard VPN with Netflix

The Netflix proxy error has been alive and well since the beginning of 2016, when Reed Hastings decided to put a stop to proxy users getting around licensed geo-restrictions. Previously, all a user had to do was use any proxy or VPN (that gave good enough speeds) to change their IP to a US IP to get the US library of content.

Now in 2017, it’s not that simple.

The good news is that it seems like Netflix has tired of the cat and mouse game that VPN providers are using, so there are more options for proxy and VPN users to access Netflix and unblock the dreaded proxy error. Check out this video of the Top 5 Netflix VPNs for 2018. However, my favorite option for unblocking is still TorGuard VPN.

Why do you ask?

Well TorGuard VPN is the best in my opinion for unblocking Netflix for a few reasons:

  1. Their solution is more permanent due to unique dedicated IPs that you purchase.
  2. They are the best VPN service in other areas like speeds, customer service, and application customization/security.
  3. TorGuard was the first VPN to help users get around the proxy error whereas other VPN providers quit or gave up. This gives them credibility.

So now that you know why TorGuard is one of the best solutions for Netflix, how do you use it to unblock the Netflix proxy error?

Well it’s pretty easy!

How to Unblock US Netflix With TorGuard

  1. Go to TorGuard’s site and pick a subscription. I would recommend the 6 month plan since this is the cheapest 6 month plan from any VPN provider.
  2. Once you pick your plan, you’ll also have to signup for a dedicated streaming IP.
  3. Finish checking out with your preferred payment plan.
  4. Once you’ve paid, submit a support ticket to TorGuard requesting your dedicated streaming IP for Netflix.
  5. TorGuard will send your IP through an email. Once you get this email, copy and save the IP.
  6. Launch the TorGuard app and navigate to “Settings” by clicking on “Settings” on the bottom part of the first part of the app.
  7. Once you get to the settings, go to the “Servers” tab. This is where you’ll copy paste your IP address and save the server.
  8. Once you save your dedicated IP, go to the original front part of the app, and click “Select Server”. From here you can find your provided “Netflix” server, or whatever you named it, at the top of the server list.
