VPNs are a tricky sell in some ways. Do you really need one? After all, privacy while important–doesn’t mean much if you have nothing to hide right? This is a common thought process among most people which means that most people don’t want a VPN.

Privacy is a concern in every country. It doesn’t matter where you live, since now in 2017, more and more countries are finally starting to realize that they can get away with tracking, selling, or censoring data outright.

Evan Geer, an internet activist sums it up. “The only people in the United States who want less Internet privacy are CEOs and lobbyists for giant telecom companies, who want to rake in money by spying on all of us and selling the private details of our lives to marketing companies.”
With “great” companies like Comcast and At&t, it’s only a matter of time before we have an ad apocalypse.
#2 UK Rulings
Theresa May, a British politician who serves the Prime Minister might just be the new harbinger of dead privacy in the UK. The reason being that May is one of the fiercest proponents of enabling mandatory censorship of the UK internet. These new regulations would come in the form of a manifesto. Some people say that it is not for government to regulate when it comes to technology and the internet,” the manifesto states “We disagree.”
By rationalizing that the manifesto is being made to prevent terrorism, the manifesto seeks to dismantle internet privacy completely by controlling it. Additionally, the manifesto wants to enact levies to charge companies to pay for targeted advertising educational schemes.

Another recent privacy violation around the world was in the Ukraine. Just recently, the Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko set in a country wide ban against email services and search engines to prevent Russian spy agencies from stealing information. A little excessive right?

In 2017, we’re seen much more increased mobile use. The reason being that more and more smartphones and iPads are getting faster and faster to complement computers. Phones also have bigger screens now which means its not only easier to browse, but more likely that people will be using their phones instead of their computer.
