How to Watch the CW in the UK

The CW has been on a tear lately. The Flash, Supergirl, and Supernatural continue to be some of the most popular and fun TV shows in the world.

It’s even better when they team up in one giant episode–which is great, because inside the USA they’ve released a free to download, free to watch app with all of their shows!

The bad news is that if you live in the UK and try to use the app, you get this message: “Sorry, this content is not available in your location”.

If you can’t watch the service, CW streaming service simply identifies your IP address to see that you’re outside of the US. Thankfully, there’s a way to trick websites like the CW streaming service into thinking that you are browsing inside the US.

As we said, to use the US CW app you must trick the CW streaming service into thinking you’re in a different country.

There are a few ways to achieve this, but there is only one method we recommend. This method requires that you use a VPN (Virtual Private Network). Using a VPN is the easiest and cheapest options to access US websites like the CW.

VPN services use their servers to assign your device to a new IP address in a different country. Your connection to the internet will re-route through their servers, rooting your traffic in that new country. This allows you to circumvent any frivolous geographic restrictions.

This process works great in the UK. Your connection to the US will be strongest if you choose a server on the east coast. So something based in New York or upper Northeast.

Notably, since the CW app streaming is free in the US, once you connect with your VPN, it will also be free for you. Free to watch great shows like The 100 and The Vampire Diaries.

The CW app works on the following devices:

-Amazon Fire

-Xbox One/360

-Apple TV

There used to be multiple reliable VPN services, but many sites like NETFLIX and the CW, have cracked down on their geographic limitations limiting several popular VPNs like Private Internet Access, ExpressVPN, Hola, HideMyAss VPN, and more. Thankfully, we have a recommendation.

TorGuard (highest rated in the TorGuard Review) is the most reliable, safest VPN to connect to the US from the UK. Their 24/7 live chat customer service and ease of use make sure you’ll never have an issue watching Arrow or Legends of Tomorrow.

Most importantly, TorGuard offers dedicated IPs. These allow for you to be assigned to your unique IP that no other user will be attached to. Other VPN services like ExpressVPN and HolaVPN lump multiple users onto the same IP which often causes streaming websites to block you as a VPN/Proxy user.

There are easy to download and use apps for VPNs like TorGuard. These apps work with your tablet, phone, and other app-enabled devices.

But while some shows are good on the go, others, like superhero shows, are best watched on your TV. Setting up a VPN on a game console or smart TV only takes a few more steps when compared to your computer.

To enable your Roku or game console to be VPN ready, follow these simple steps:

Step #1

Start by obtaining a VPN subscription. This link here will start your TorGuard checkout process. We recommend the available 6-month plan. It’s the cheapest and most flexible.

Step #2

Purchase a dedicated IP. This option is available at the end of your TorGuard purchase.

Step #3

To install your VPN on a router, you’ll need a VPN enable router. These are cheap and necessary to watch great shows like iZombie on your TV. The TP-Link router works wonderfully with TorGuard’s free VPN router tool!

Step #4

Once the above-mentioned tool is installed, all you have to do is integrate your dedicated IP. Your device will be connected, and you can watch and re-watch as much CW as you want!

There are many Free VPNs out there that will advertise themselves as good alternatives. But before you commit to these, you must know that most free VPNs are not safe.

They are consistently unreliable, include hidden charges, and don’t work with great streaming sites like NETFLIX.

Also. They’re slow.

THEY ARE SLOW. Just don’t do it. For more information on Free VPNs, click here.
