Private Internet Access is one of the most affordable VPNs out there per month at only $6.95 for a one-month commitment. Since it’s so cheap, you might be wondering if it’s too good to be true. Private Internet Access’s pricing beats out most VPNs out there that cost $9.99 per month, and especially ExpressVPN that costs $12.95. So it’s a good deal right?
Well, there might be some reasons why Private Internet Access is so cheap.
One reason Private Internet Access is so cheap is that they want to attract customers, which isn’t a bad thing since they’ll make more money to invest back into their company.
Their forums are quite big and full of loyal users, but one thing to note is that since there are so many users, everyone is sharing the same servers and IPs–which has in the past created some problems with blacklisted IPs. Some banking websites and other services like Blizzard might block Private Internet Access’s IPs.
I think this is one reason Private Internet Access has given up on Netflix It’s just too big and the logistics of handing out dedicated IPs like TorGuard does wouldn’t be feasible or extremely profitable for them.
Some other things to note are the relatively simple features of PIA. They don’t have a ton of VPN extras like some VPN providers (TorGuard). They don’t work too well in China, they don’t offer dedicated IPs, additional encrypted email services, and their customer support isn’t always available 24/7. However, they do have good mobile apps, decent speeds, compatibility with torrenting, and their PC app is usually working well.
So is Private Internet Access the best choice for a one-month subscription of $6.95?
That depends on your needs. If you just need a simple VPN for encryption and torrenting, then it’s a decent VPN provider by all accounts.
However, if you want something a bit more powerful and possibly easier to use complemented with fantastic customer service, consider checking out TorGuard which is competitive with Private Internet Access since you can get it for $29.99 for six months.
