PureVPN — Not my best VPN experience.

User Rating: 2

I’ve used three different VPN apps, paid and free, before purchasing PureVPN strictly on the basis of some online reviews. The product works reasonably well on my PC desktop with some caveats concerning the setting and modes (which affect the number of cities available). On the plus side, being able to connect up to 5 devices (PC, iOS, etc) concurrently is a very attractive feature.

On the downside: I am unable to maintain a connection on any of my iOS devices. No matter what combination of modes, protocols, and other settings I use, the device will disconnect. I spent more than an hour on the phone with support troubleshooting, adding protocols manually, and changing servers. While the support person was courteous and apologetic, nothing was resolved and I felt more like a beta tester than a customer. In addition, I may have been a little ahead of the support person on how the product actually works.

Additionally, I purchased a “lifetime” subscription via StackSocial website. There is a “gotcha” that isn’t mentioned prior to purchasing. You have to make a request every 5 years to [email protected] in order to maintain your subscription. No mention of what will happen if you forget (grace period, etc). Update: I did find mention of the 5-year renewal on the PureVPN FaceBook page, However, this should be explained everywhere the lifetime offer is made.

All in all, as stated in the review title–not my best VPN experience.
